AQIP Steering Committee

The HLC accreditation process which SCTCC participates in is called the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) Pathway. At the College level, the quality improvement process is led by the AQIP Steering Committee.

AQIP Steering Committee Mission:

The AQIP Steering Committee shall guide and support the on-going continuous improvement efforts of the College described by the Higher Learning Commission’s AQIP model of accreditation as it relates to the SCTCC strategic plan under the governance of the College and President.

AQIP Steering Committee Charge:

  • To coordinate efforts and demonstrate SCTCC’s continuing compliance with accreditation requirements from the Higher Learning Commission
  • To utilize the AQIP framework to document and refine improvement efforts
  • To guide the continuing integration of improvement principles in the College’s daily work

AQIP Steering Committee Functions:

  • Decision-making - makes decisions that are relevant for the overall direction of AQIP and its initiatives
  • Provide support – organize and prioritize access to resources
  • Provide knowledge - provide knowledge and experience to the project-teams
  • Ensure quality and progress – ensure progress and direction are acceptable at a higher level than the project teams

Examples Duties:

  • Selecting new Action Projects
  • Establishing Action Project teams
  • Monitoring the progress of current Action Projects
  • Providing guidance and direction regarding SCTCC’s Systems Portfolio
  • Reviewing and responding to Systems Appraisal feedback reports
  • Making recommendations to senior leadership regarding strategic priorities based on HLC Feedback

All members of the Steering Committee are expected to:

  • Understand the strategic implications and outcomes of the project
  • Appreciate the impact of the project on all major stakeholders
  • Provide those directly involved in the projects with guidance on business issues
  • Address any issue which has major implications for the project
  • Accept responsibility for the project strategy and the overall benefit realization of the project
